Local Rules
Local Rules – Score Card (October 2019)
Out of Bounds (Rule 18); the boundary of the course is defined by white stakes, which
A ball is out of bounds if the whole of it comes to rest outside the boundary. The boundary edge is defined by the line between the course-side points of the stakes at ground level and the stakes themselves are out of bounds.
In the event of doubt as to whether a ball is beyond the said defined boundary, PLAYERS SHOULD PLAY A PROVISIONAL BALL.
Obstructions (Rule 16); All fixed artificial objects including surfaced paths, huts, staked and plastic or wire protected trees, tee markers, tee signs/boards, winter tee frames and all fairway yardage marker discs are immovable obstructions. Free relief under Rule 16 applies. Note: winter tee mats are deemed to be ‘in play’.
All stakes defining Penalty Areas and Distance Marker Posts, are moveable obstructions. Rule 15.2a applies.
Ground under Repair (GUR) (Rule 16). Areas deemed GUR are defined by a complete or intermittent white line encircling the area. If a player’s ball lies within the defined area, or the area defined interferes with the player’s stance or swing, relief MAY be taken under Rule 16, except that relief MUST be taken from any prohibited area so marked by the Greens staff.
NO PLAY ZONES. Conservation and wildlife areas marked by blue posts and/or lines are No Play Zones from which access is prohibited. Free relief MUST be taken in accordance with Rule 16.1f.
Fixed Sprinklers (Rule 16). These are immovable obstructions and relief from interference by them may be taken under Rule 16.1b. In addition, if a ball lies in the general area and an immovable obstruction which is within two club-lengths of the putting green and within two club-lengths of the ball, intervenes on the line of play, the player may also take relief under Rule 16.1b. There is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.
Temporary Local Rules. It is every player’s responsibility to determine whether any additional Temporary Local Rules are in effect prior to commencing play. These will be posted in the Locker Rooms, Professional shop and the glass case adjacent to the Ladies’ locker room.
Yardage Posts at 200, 150 and 100 yards, yellow and red fairway yardage discs are all measured to the ‘middle of the green’.

Club Rules and Policies Governing Trophies and Competitions
1. MAJOR COMPETITIONS
It is a condition for all Major Club Competitions that, to be eligible to win these competitions, any player must be a full playing member and hold a Competition Handicap, (c).
Unless a Competition Handicap is held members are not allowed entry into any club Major Competition, but may enter any qualifying stroke play event running alongside the major competition of the day.
Once new full playing members have completed 3 cards (completed rounds) their non-Competition Handicap will be amended to a Competition Handicap allowing entry into any remaining Major Competition.
Players who do not fulfil these conditions cannot enter Club Knock-out competitions.
In the event of a tie
- The winner of one of the Club’s Major Competitions will always be decided by a play-off under the original competition conditions, and off their current handicap. This play-off will also decide the runner-up. In normal circumstances the players involved in the play-off will arrange a mutually convenient date for the play-off on or before the date set by the Committee. It may, however, sometimes be necessary for the Committee to stipulate a specific date for the play-off and its decision in such matters will be final. In the event of a tie in any such play-off the result shall be decided on Count Back (see Rules for Count Back).
- If a Major Stroke-Play competition is abandoned another date will be arranged, if possible, and all members with a current handicap will be eligible.
- In the event of a tie for runner up, which was not part of a tie for the winner, the decision will be on Count Back (see Rules for Count Back).
Thursday, Saturday Medals Finals and Stableford Finals will be decided on Count Back as are the Monthly Medals and Stablefords throughout the year
In all stroke play competitions, if play is suspended due to bad weather, the competition will be abandoned if play cannot recommence within one hour. If 75% of competitors have completed their round then the result at that time will stand.
75% is the recommended number but the Committee might decide to change this after considering all circumstances on the day and their decision is final.
